In order to find the best and most diverse talent for our upcoming USAWR development camps, we have decided to have an open application process to athletes outside of our emerging athlete pool who wish to be considered for these camps. If selected, no costs will be incurred by the athlete thanks to a grant from the USOPC. Below is a list of what will be required of you for your application, eligibility criteria, and more.
Please submit as much of the requested information as possible! There will be three camps (dates below) and numbers will be limited to 15 athletes per camp. The more information you provide us, the better chances you will have of being selected. If you have difficulty in submitting some of the requested information, please make a note of why you were unable to provide this information.
All materials should be submitted to Mandy Goff at email@example.com, and any questions can be directed to her as well. Videos should be saved under your last name and first initial and can be uploaded to a dropbox link or other file share program and then include the link when submitting the additional application materials. All information must be received by July 26th.
Video of you playing the sport. Ideally this is from a game, but practice footage is ok too, or even just film of you in your chair pushing around. Something is better than nothing!
Timed statistics. This includes a 1-mile push time, full court sprint time, and half court sprint time. Try to perform these all on flat surfaces, but if not possible just make a note of how you performed them.
Personal statement. This can include things like your goals in wheelchair rugby, short and long term, how you view yourself achieving them, what your obstacles might be, etc.
Athletes in our current USAWR emerging pool are eligible. However the committee members will vote on each athlete, and you must receive an invitation.
Once all materials are submitted and received by USAWR, the committee members will vote and select the 15 athletes for each camp.
